  • Kickstarted,” an in-production documentary film about the crowdfunding revolution, is raising money using no other platform than Kickstarter.

In the past few years, we’ve seen the beginning of a big shift to the crowdfunding model with well-financed successes like Ouya, the Pebble Watch and the Veronica Mars Movie. Now, it’s time to trace this online phenomenon through film.

To build buzz for “Kickstarted,” the team is using its Kickstarted YouTube channel to release interviews with noteworthy leaders of crowdfunded projects, such as Zach Braff, who raised $2 million in just days for his indie film, “Wish I Was Here.” Future videos will highlight crowdfunding best practices and interviews with Amanda Palmer, Brian Fargo, Chris Roberts, and more.

If you want to have a hand in the success of this documentary, donate to the campaign to help the team reach its goal of $85,000. Rewards include a downloadable copy of the film, a collector’s edition DVD with bonus features, tickets to the premiere party and producer’s credits.
