Caleb Kraft, a member of the maker community, set out to help Thomas, a boy who has muscular dystrophy, a condition that will eventually lead to him losing control in his muscles. “Gaming, as you can imagine, is very important to [Thomas] and people like him,” Kraft writes. “It offers a release of frustration, like it does for all of us, but also a level playing ground.”
So where can the disabled turn when their disabilities make gaming difficult? Well, as he found out, there aren’t very many places to turn, seeing as many gaming parts modified for the disabled are prohibitively expensive. So what does a hacker do when facing such a scenario? He hacks.
