  • On Sunday, December 8, our own Shira Lazar and Tyler Oakley hosted the red carpet for The Trevor Project‘s TrevorLIVE gala – the annual, star-studded event that raises awareness and funds for programs that help LGBTQ teens in crisis.

“It’s the best event of the season!” says Jane Lynch, “Glee” star and TrevorLIVE 2013 Hero Award honoree.

“It means the world to me,” she says of being honored this year. “‘Glee’ is very much about going to a place where everyone has your back, where you’re celebrated for who you are, where you don’t have to fall into the lines of any strict societal meme. And Trevor Project started doing that years ago.”

She even shares a part of her discussion with Kathy Griffin (Trevor Live Hero Award honoree of year’s past) about growing up and dealing with being different. “When we were young, we had nobody to talk to about this stuff. Now, she’s not gay, but she’s a weirdo!”

“Get online, kids,” Lynch says. “Google ‘It Gets Better.’ Google ‘Trevor Project.’ Google ‘Glee.'”
