  • Powered by BackType, a company that Twitter acquired back in July, the new Twitter Web Analytics platform aims to provide site owners with detailed information on how much traffic they receive from the social network and just how effective that traffic is.

The service is free and currently in a beta stage, indicating they are interested in feedback and continued development based off of usage and testing. Whether a pro version will be released someday with extended features is unknown.

Christopher Golda, who is now working for Twitter and was the founder of Backtype wrote in a post on Twitter’s developer blog:

[quote style=”2″]The product provides three key benefits:

Understand how much your website content is being shared across the Twitter network

See the amount of traffic Twitter sends to your site

Measure the effectiveness of your Tweet Button integration

  • Unfortunately if you were hoping to jump and try it, the service is only being rolled out this week to ‘a small pilot group of partners’ though the announcement stated it would be available to the public in the next few weeks.
