  • Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, former CEO of Godfather Pizza, caused a stir last night when he presented his “9-9-9” tax plan at the GOP debate in New Hampshire. While Cain is currently in second place in national polling, his proposal to replace the current tax code with a nine percent tax on personal income, business income, and sales, is being highly criticized by other Republican candidates.

Jon Huntsman mockingly said he thought Cain’s 9-9-9 tax plan was the price of pizza. Meanwhile Michelle Bachman said if the idea were put in place it would just be another “revenue stream” for Congress. “When you take the ‘9-9-9’ plan and turn it upside-down, the devil’s in the details,” she said, referencing the Satanic numbers 6-6-6. Rick Perry said 9-9-9 is unnecessary.

“’999’ will pass and is not the price of a pizza,” responded Cain.

One thing’s for sure. The numbers 9-9-9 are now on every Republican’s mind.
