Red Ribbon Week: go drug free on and offline

  • Red Ribbon Week began after the kidnapping, torture and brutal murder of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena in 1985.

In 1988, the National Family Partnership (NFP) coordinated the first National Red Ribbon Week with President and Mrs. Reagan serving as honorary chairpersons.

According to the NFP, over 80 million people have participated in the yearly campaign to take a stand against drugs and show intolerance for illicit drug use and the consequences to Americans.

You can support the cause online by adding a Twibbon to your Facebook and Twitter profile picture. You can take the pledge online at www.redribbon.org/pledge.

Many are tweeting and supporting the cause using the hashtag #RedRibbonWeek on Twitter as well.
