Police Raid Occupy Wall Street- Live Feed from Protesters

  • At around 1am EST, the online word began to spread that police were raiding Zucotti Park, home to the Occupy Wall Street movement for the past two months. According to OccupyWallSt.org, police starting bringing in “bulldozers” and “riot gear” at 1:20am EST. By 420 am est the park was empty, with protesters relocating to Foley Square next to city hall.   • According to NYMag.com which also has a picture of the official eviction notice, “Mayor Bloomberg, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, Fire Commissioner Sal Cassano, and other officials met in secret at City Hall to approve the plan to clear the park. According to police, the eviction will improve health conditions in the square, which have recently grown dire. In his statement, the mayor said he had become worried ‘that the occupation was coming to pose a health and fire safety hazard to the protesters and to the surrounding community.'”
