Breaking Dawn Prepares for Record Breaking Weekend

  • Part one of the final installment in the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn, opened earlier today at 12:01 AM. And, while the third installment, Eclipse, opened in over 400 more theaters – Breaking Dawn has already surpassed it in midnight ticket sales. The only movie in the series to do better was the second film, New Moon.

But, as Twi-hards pour into theaters over the weekend, Summit Entertainment’s fingers are tightly crossed in hopes that Breaking Dawn will continue the lucrative pattern set forth, of each sequel besting its predecessor. Unlike the Harry Potter series who saw a ticket sale decrease between the first three films, Twilight has consistently achieved a greater box-office with each release. And, with early predictions calling for a 150 million+ opening weekend, the tradition may very well stand.

So, whether you support Team Edward or Team Jacob, you’d better believe you’ll have a lot of support one way or the other at the movie theater tonight! Oh, and get your tickets early, as Fandango reports that as of mid-week over 3,000 showings have already sold out.
