  • Cameras captured a candid moment of Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum, after he was questioned by a gay audience member about his stance against same-sex marriage. In short, Santorum’s lengthy, philosophical explanation concluded that homosexual relationships do not have the same “benefits” to society, and are therefore not afforded the legal “privilege” of a heterosexual marriage.

Two people who may like each other or may love each other who are same-sex, is that a special relationship? Yes it is, but it is not the same relationship that benefits society like a marriage between a man and a woman

Harkening back to political theory, Santorum argued that constitutional rights, such as speech and religion, are God-given, and therefore only need protection via the constitution. Marriage, on the other hand, is a special legal relationship bestowed by the government, and therefore can be selectively handed-out based on the social benefits that it supposedly provides. His comments may make your blood boil, or it may make you cheer, but it’s one of the most thorough exchanges we’ve seen on a topic that often only gets told through soundbites.

  • We’ve also included a bonus “Bad Lip Reading” parody video of Santorum–just for kicks. Enjoy”
