  • Over the weekend, SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels invited presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney to appear on an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live. Today, Romney told Diane Sawyer of ABC news in an interview that being on the sketch comedy show “sounded like a lot of fun,” but it depended on the “nature of the skit. I want it to be funny.”

He even admitted to Sawyer that he sets his DVR to record the show every week to see Jason Sudekis’ impression of him. “Jason’s good. Very good,” said Romney of the impression of him.

While I know SNL has had plenty of presidential nominees grace their stage over the years, from Gerald Ford to Barack Obama, would this be the first time that a robot presidential nominee appeared on the late night show? Sadly, no. Al Gore appeared on the show in 2002 and did a sketch in a hottub that nearly fried his circuits.
