Happy Flag Day, America!: Twitter Keeps Us Informed

  • Closing in on the tail end of Flag Week, today is officially Flag Day in America, so whether it’s your country flag or your freak flag, feel free to fly it high.

235 years ago, the Continental Congress formally adopted the Stars and Stripes as America’s national banner and it still stands as the symbol of USA pride that we know today.

It wasn’t until 1916 that President Woodrow Wilson established June 14 as Flag Day. While not technically a national holiday (no mandatory bank or school closings nationwide), it’s still a fine day to celebrate the star-spangled banner.

In true patriotic fashion, Happy Flag Day is trending on Twitter in the U.S. Here are some facts for the occasion.
