  • Adapted by Andy and Lana Wachowski, along with Tom Tykwer, David Mitchell’s 2004 multi-genre novel, Cloud Atlas, will finally make its journey to the big screen.

    And it’s confusing.

The epic story, centered around a post-apocalyptic world, not only spans plot points but it also jumps time periods and throws its actors into a variety of characters and bizarre situations.

A recently-launched six-minute trailer, available on Apple’s site, may be mesmerizing to watch, but it doesn’t clear up the mystery of the ambitious film.

The film stars (in select roles), Tom Hanks as a Hawaiian tribesman, Halle Berry as a technologically-advanced futuristic being, and Jim Broadbent as a 1930s Belgian composer, along with Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Ben Whishaw, Susan Sarandon, and Hugh Grant.

Cloud Atlas will hit theaters on October 26.
