Hans Zimmer Releases Benefit Song To Honor Aurora Theater Shooting Victims
  • Hans Zimmer, composer of the “The Dark Knight Rises” soundtrack, has recorded a song commemorating the victims of the deadly theater shooting in Aurora, Colo. Titling the recording simply “Aurora,” Zimmer is selling the song to raise money for the victims and their families. He posted where to donate and download the song on his Facebook page, which has more than 870 million likes.

Here’s part of what what he wrote on his page:

“Aurora” is dedicated to those who lost their lives and were affected by the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado. I recorded this song in London in the days following the tragedy as a heartfelt tribute to the victims and their families. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Aurora Victim Relief organization.”

He also shared the link for the website, where people can donate as little as 10 cents to $2,500 for the song. The piece itself is a moving tribute for the victims, and the fact that Zimmer recorded the song in London so quickly after the tragedy makes it all the more astonishing.
