  • Fresh from his social-media-inspired DigiTour, music sensation Tyler Ward serenades the What’s Trending studio with an performance of his original song, “Falling,” and answers fan questions about his brand new two-part album and creative inspirations.

    Having kicked off his music career as a YouTuber, Tyler’s no stranger to the wealth of online artists popping up today. Having first won the hearts of the Internet with a was a mashup of 2008’s biggest Top 40 songs, Tyler followed up with more smash hit covers, like Maroon 5’s “Payphone,” B.o.B.’s “Airplanes” and even some Katy Perry mixed in there.

    But, as a songwriter, Tyler’s talent truly shines with his original tunes, like Tyler’s also won acclaim for his original songs, including “The Rescue,” “Paper Heart” and “On My Mind,” a duet with Cody Simpson that has almost 3.5 million views to date.

    Tyler reveals that his other favorite collaborations include songs with Christina Grimmie and Boyce Avenue, the latter of which he cites as a true inspiration for making his own YouTube videos.

    Now, he’s having fun promoting his newest album “Hello.Love.Heartbreak,” which is being released in two parts. You can already buy the first part on iTunes now, with the second half to complete the full-length release in February 2013. And with that, Tyler again shows us how well he’s tapped into audience engagement. “It’s an old model!” he says, writing off the idea of a 12+ track album.
