  • On Sunday, December 2, our own Shira Lazar and Tyler Oakley hosted the red carpet of The Trevor Project‘s “Trevor Live” gala, the annual star-studded event that raises awareness and funds for programs that help LGBT in crisis.

Zachary Quinto takes a break from “Star Trek” to chat about Trevor’s cause and how straight allies can support the LGBT community.

After attending his first Trevor Live last year, he was inspired to become involved with the organization and receive training to help from the inside.

He also gives advice to teens who may be struggling. “I think that you have to look at not just me but all the people that came before me and all the people that made it possible for us to be at this remarkably definitive place in our culture and our society,” he says. “The changes that are happening now are unstoppable and they should be inspirational to anybody that’s questioning the energy that they’re met with in the world.”

And he believes that straight allies can lend a hand to the LGBT community by “doing anything that they can to support or embrace equality and fundamental rights.” He adds,”I have so many straight friends that are integrally involved in the pursuit of marriage equality in this country.”
