  • What Is Woman Crush Wednesday?

Every Wednesday, the ever popular trending topic, #wcw, blows up on Twitter, exposing the users’ “Woman-Crush Wednesdays” photos. Following the #wcw trend, which mostly stands for Women Crush Wednesday, means posting many pictures (some beautiful and some intentionally unflattering) of women crushes. Well, the pictures are usually of women. Let’s take a look at different types of #wcw posts.

  • The Common

This is an acceptable #wcw tweet. Emma Watson is a babe.

  • The Sad

This is Joaquin Noah, who plays for the Chicago Bulls. He is not a woman crush.

  • The Sexist Asshole

This is an excuse to post something mean to women, on a hashtag meant to celebrate them. Not ideal.

  • The Uncomfortable

    This one’s a joke, right? God, I hope it’s a joke.

  • The Realistic

Now this is a crush we can all agree with.

  • The Problem:

Now, as this only occurs once a week on Wednesdays obviously (or Tuesdays if you have friends in Australia), then what happens the other six days of the week? A majority of the world is unaware of the true acronym for “WCW,” which really stands for “World Championship Wresting.”

The fact of the matter is that fans of “World Championship Wrestling” are being overshadowed by our women crushes. A simple click of the mouse on Twitter can prove this. In the trends, by changing from “Photos” to “People” you’ll find that there are many Twitter handles using WCW.

How can we solve this confusing crisis? If everyone would simply follow a World Championship Wrestling Twitter, it would boost the popularity of wrestling and allow us to celebrate #wcw every day of the week.

But of course it’s not that simple; not everyone enjoys wrestling. This unfortunately means the #wcw plight may be unresolved for a very long time, perhaps the remainder of the Internet’s life resulting in many of these posted under #wcw:

    #wcw, we think.
