Rise Like A Phoenix, Austria’s submission for the song contest, won for 2014! Conchita Wurst, known as “the bearded lady,” is the country’s first win in two decades.

Wurst has become a favorite on social media for her gender-defying performance. In an interview in Copenhagen, Wurst said, “I wanted to show the world that you can do whatever you want. If you want to be a bearded lady, you are allowed to do that because I’m not hurting anyone.”
