Michael Phelps to RACE SHARK
Getting up close and personal with large fish is an intriguing thing for many people. I mean, swimming with dolphins has been a dream of mine my whole life. Michael Phelps is taking this large-fish thing and his competitive nature to another level for shark week this year. The Olympic Gold medalist who blows everyone out of the water, is over racing other people and is ready to take on tougher competition. His next competitor? A shark.
Not joking. This guy plans on racing a shark. The competition will be a part of the line up for Discovery Channel’s Shark Week this July.
The network released a statement that said:
“They are one of the fastest and most efficient predators on the planet: Sharks. He is out greatest champion to ever get in the water: Michael Phelps. 39 world records. 23 Olympic golds. But he has one competition left to win. An event so monumental no one has ever attempter it before. The world’s most decorated athlete takes on the ocean’s most efficient predator: Phelps V Shark- the race his on! Produced by Peacock Productions.”
While I personally think this is insane, Twitter is pretty excited about it:
Based on a panel Phelps spoke at in New York earlier this week where he said sharks are his favorite animal, I’m gonna bet he’s just as excited as everyone else. The show will air on July 23rd.
What do you guys think? Has Phelps lost his mind? Does he actually have a chance of beating a shark? Let us know what you think in the comments or at @whatstrending on Twitter!
