  • Social aggregate site reddit launched their first YouTube series, “Explain Like I’m Five,” based on the subreddit of the same name, which is described as “an inclusive place to ask questions and get simple, layman-friendly answers, without fear of judgement.”

Reddit general manager Erik Martin told The Hollywood Reporter that the YouTube-funded series functions more as a way to encourage reddit users to create their own video content rather than a major statement about the company’s foray into original programming.

In the three episodes, “Existentialism and Friedrich Nietzsche,” “The Crisis in Syria” and “The Volatility of the Stock Market.” actors Michael Kayne and Langan Kingsley explain these major topics to kids in a classroom setting.

The site is also teaming up with DonorsChoose.org to provide the next generation of kids with exciting, educational resources. Visit their “Explain Like I’m Five” page to donate and support low-income elementary school students.
