  • Internet do-gooders are banding together to help out Chicago homeless man Ronald Davis, whose interview was posted to YouTube in July 2012 and recently got a viral boost on reddit. According to the video’s caption, the powerful interview was filmed by student filmmaker Andrew Messer as a part of the Big Questions series on WNIT Public Television.

In the above footage, Davis goes into detail about where he sleeps to survive, making it through winters, the struggle of going on job interviews, and the embarrassment of having to beg for money.

“It’s really humiliating to be shaking a cup 24 hours a day and people just look at you’re like some kind of little bum,” Davis says, breaking down in tears. “I’m not a bum. I’m a human being.”

Now that the video has been seen by over 2 million people, viewers are finding new ways to lend their support to Davis. According to The Huffington Post, redditors have sent care packages. Campaigns have also popped up on IndieGoGo and GiveForward to help raise funds to get Davis on his feet.
