During rehearsals for a concert in Israel, a sneaky onlooker caught the footage of Madonna performing a cover of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” hit, infused with some of Madge’s own legendary “Express Yourself” lyrics.
Has it really come to this? The inspired becomes the inspiration, it seems.
Lady Gaga hasn’t been shy about how much Madonna has influenced her as an artist and performer. Meanwhile, Madonna conveyed some confusion about how to handle Gaga’s “Born This Way” — which many feel is a legitimate rip-off of “Express Yourself.”
Madonna told 20/20 in January: “I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well done. There’s a lot of ways to look at it. I can’t really be annoyed by it…because, obviously, I’ve influenced her.”
