  • USA gymnast Aly Raisman is a part of one of the biggest stories of the 2012 Olympics thus far, after she unexpectedly outseated teammate Jordyn Wieber for a spot in the all-around competition.

Still, she managed to prove that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. And supportive parents don’t hurt either.

Amidst all of the controversy about the drama of Wieber being cheated by the Olympics system, this video of Aly Raisman’s parents in the stands has gone viral.

It shows Lynn and Ricky Raisman uncomfortably watching on as their daughter dominates the uneven bars segment of the women’s gymnastics preliminary competition, fighting the immense urge to leap out of their seats and look away in fear of any possible mistakes.

In the end, of course, Raisman nailed the routine and earned her way into the team’s overall competition this week. But it was definitely a disappointing weekend for Wieber, who was pegged as the top competitor and even emerged with the fourth best score on Sunday, but was denied the chance to move forward because of the recent rule that only two gymnasts from each country could enter the all-around.

Those spots are now secured for Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas. We look forward to seeing Raisman — and her parents — on the mat.
