Seven Minutes of Terror Before Landing on Mars: Watch LIVE Tonight (VIDEO)
  • In this video uploaded on June 22, team members at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory discuss the challenges that occur during the Curiosity Mars rover’s final minutes before landing on the surface of the Red Planet and the moments of terror that can make or break a revolutionary mission.

Tonight, we get the chance to see these minutes play out LIVE via NASA’s website, as the Curiosity rover prepares to land on Mars in an attempt to complete the space agency’s $2.5 billion mission — and one of it’s boldest to date.

NASA TV will begin its live coverage Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. PT/10:30 p.m. ET, with the landing set to stream across the Internet at roughly 10:30 p.m. PT Sunday/1:30 a.m. ET Monday.

According to CNET, we’ll actually be watching the landing 14 minutes after the fact, due to a communications lag time for signals traveling the 154 million miles from Mars.
