Friday night, news spread quickly that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney had chosen Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate for the 2012 election.
Romney officially made the announcement via his “Romney’s VP” smartphone app, then later confirming the news on Twitter @MittRomney, and, of course, formally presenting his chosen VP to an excited crowd in Virginia on Saturday morning.

To sport his new role, Ryan switched from his @RepPaulRyan Twitter account to @PaulRyanVP overnight.
