Bullied Teen Posts Chilling Video Before Tragically Taking Her Own Life
Vancouver teen Amanda Todd tragically committed suicide last Wednesday, after posting a video to her TheSomebodytoknow YouTube channel about her “never-ending” battle with cyber bullying.
The caption on her video reads, “I’m struggling to stay in this world, because everything just touches me so deeply. I’m not doing this for attention. I’m doing this to be an inspiration and to show that I can be strong.”
Using cue cards, the 15-year-old shared her story about how she flashed her chest for a webcam communicant in 7th grade and one year later, he threatened to circulate the topless image if she didn’t “put on a show” for him. The man went on to send her picture across the web and even use it as his Facebook profile image.
As a result, Amanda endured anxiety and depression, which led to drugs and alcohol, self-harm, a change of schools, and increased physical and emotional bullying from peers.
Since Amanda’s video and news of her passing began to circulate the Internet, it seems that Hacktivist group Anonymous has tracked down and identified Amanda’s alleged bully, with the possibility of shedding some light on the source of the pain that she experienced.
