  • On Monday, November 26, New York City’s Empire State Building displayed its brand new LED lights in the landmark’s first ever light show.

Created by Philips Color Kinetics, the lighting system was designed to produce an array of 16 million colors and generate special effects such as ripples, bursts, sweeps, and sparkles.

YouTube user KTaylorTV1 shot his own video of the event from Hoboken, NJ, and his user-generated footage has already racked up over 120,000 views. In the background, Alicia Keys’ music can be heard, as her New York anthem “Empire State of Mind” and new single, “Girl on Fire,” were simulcast from several local radio stations and played in sync with the light show.
