Welcome to The Blockchain Report, your daily rundown for the latest in crypto with your host Taylor Nikolai. Did you get scammed by Floyd Mayweather and DJ Khaled?

You’ve seen them on TV and Snapchat, and you may have seen them shilling crypto. Famous boxer Floyd Mayweather and famous DJ and Snapchatter DJ Khaled seem to be in some hot water. The two of them are being sued for allegedly being involved in a crypto scam. Both Mayweather and Khaled signed with a company called Centra Tech.

Centra Tech is a company that sells financial products related to cryptocurrency. Over $32 million has been invested in Centra Tech by investors, who now want their money back. Centra Tech’s founders Robert Farkas, Raymond Trapani, and Sohrab Sharma were all arrested and charged with wire and securities fraud earlier this year.

The Department of Justice released a statement saying they: “Purported to offer cryptocurrency-related financial products, with conspiring to commit, and the commission of, securities and wire fraud in connection with a scheme to induce victims to invest millions of dollars’ worth of digital funds for the purchase of unregistered securities, in the form of digital currency tokens issued by Centra Tech, through material misrepresentations and omissions.”

According to TMZ, Mayweather and Khaled signed endorsement deals with Centra Tech, and bragged on social media about investing.

Next up, there is a growing demand for talent in the blockchain space! Glassdoor, which is a recruiting site, published a study that said that blockchain and crypto-related job opportunities have greatly increased over the past year.

According to Cointelegraph, Glassdoor combed through a large amount of job postings across their website, containing anything related to blockchain. They found 1,775 blockchain-related jobs in the U.S., while last year there were just 446 job ads. This shows a 300% increase. $84,884 per year, which is 61.8% higher than the U.S. median salary of $52,461. So if you want to make money, it seems like a good industry to be in is the blockchain space.
