You may remember a few weeks back we reported on Claudia Conway, the daughter of a Trump Advisor who was using TikTok to push pro-BLM pro-Choice viewpoints. Obviously these TikTok’s became big news because her mom, KellyAnne Conway, is famous for being conservative, pro-Trump and loyal to the Republican Party.
Shortly after her account blew up, Claudia tweeted “my parents are forcing me to delete social media so this is my last tweet. Apparently I don’t have a platform! It’s fake! Love you all so much keep fighting”. Many of her supporters thought her conservative mother was trying to silence her political opinions, but others thought her parents were sampling trying to protect her privacy.
The internet was mourning her loss and even got #saveclaudiaconway trending. Someone tweeted out a plan to get her back online, saying “may I suggest a fundraiser to buy you burner phones” and after 16 days of silence, Claudia replied “Got my phone back! Probably won’t have it for long through considering I’m about to revolutionize twitter, brb”.
As her first task in her new phase of digital activism, Claudia has decided to directly fight against her mother’s boss and one of the most powerful republican’s in our country, President Trump. Honestly, we’re here for her bravery.
Trump tweeted out “because of my strong focus on the china virus, including scheduled meetings on Vaccines, our economy and much else, I won’t be able to be in New York to throw out the opening pitch for the Yankees”. Claudia retweeted this and replied “1. China Virus is racist. 2. Vaccines should not be capitalized 3. The Yankees probably didn’t want you anyways”. Attacking his political views and lack of basic grammar skills all in one tweet … she’s making her twitter return count.
While traveling around the US, Trump tweeted “Great to be in Texas” and Claudia fired back with “great to be in a historically red state in which you are behind in the polls”. President Trump also tweeted a few days ago saying “if congress doesn’t bring fairness to Big Tech … I will do it myself with Executive Orders … It has been ALL TALK and NO ACTION for years”. To which Claudia clapped back with “ok sparky, settle down. Do you know what WE are sick and tired of? Our racist, homophobic, tyrannical golfing idiot of a president”.
Claudia’s mother has been used by the White House to go in front of the media and showcase republican viewpoints, so it’s being seen as a little ironic that now Kellyanne’s daughter is vocally tearing apart Trump’s views.
When Trump tweeted an extremely controversial statement, “2020 will be the most inaccurate & fraudulent election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the election until people can safely vote???” Claudia said what a lot of the internet was thinking, “I’m sorry – is this tweet a joke?????”
Claudia and her mother are even having some Twitter clashes about what counts as real news. Kellyanne Conway recently tweeted “all of you reporters living on Twitter and thinking it IS journalism: Just stop” – maybe throwing shade on all the Twitter activists trying to spread information without mainstream news sites. Around the same time Claudia tweeted “PSA: Fox News is not a news source”, referring to the conservative news show where her mother has made dozens of appearances to defend Trump’s policies. Again the irony here is just too good, considering Claudia uses twitter to report on current events to her followers.
Overall we just have to say, Claudia, we’re glad you’re back and have stuck to your views. On either side of the political spectrum, staying determined and loyal is hard to do and we applaud her for it.
