Bruno, The High Maintenance Fat Cat, Finds Forever Home

A few days ago, The Wright Way Rescue Animal Shelter in Illinois, Chicago, put out a post on social media advertising Bruno the cat. They began the Facebook post by saying ‘We’re not sure how Bruno hasn’t found his forever home yet! He’s the COOLEST cat!’ Of course, this grabbed people’s attention straight away, as they were brought to a photo of the thiccest cat we’ve ever seen. His pudgy belly and stance on two legs because he’s too fat to walk on all fours, made him a viral sensation, with over 25,000 shares and likes.

Although Bruno may just seem like a fat cat who needs to go on a diet, he has many features which make him very lovable and unique. Bruno is a Polydactyl Cat, therefore he has more toes than usual on his little fluffy paws. As well as unique physical features, the fluff ball has a few high maintenance characteristics that make him stand out above the rest. For example, if Bruno fancies something to eat, which seems to be a lot, he won’t purr at you and wait for you to get him some food, he will actually stand up on his back legs with his furry belly sticking out, just so you know that it’s feeding time. Another thing that separates Bruno from the rest, is that he needs to have a different drinking bowl in every room, otherwise he won’t drink his water if it’s from the same bowl. Talk about fussy!

Bruno also loves attention and will not leave his owner’s side if he can help it, making sure that he gets lots of scratches and strokes along his neck and face. However, don’t touch Bruno’s squishy belly, as he will bite and use his paw to swat you away. Sounds a bit like me: fat, needs attention and never full – perhaps I’m the human version of Bruno?

Although, because Bruno seemed like a lot of hard work, the shelter became increasingly worried that Bruno wouldn’t find a home. However, the viral post created by the shelter, caught the attention of actress and singer, Lauren Paris. Paris recently won the lottery, so understands what it’s like to be very high maintenance and thought that Bruno would be the perfect match for her.

Even though Lauren got lucky by becoming the chosen one to take Bruno home, the cat still has an ever-growing fan base, with his very own Instagram account…

I think Bruno will be very happy in his new home, and we’re sure his owner, Lauren, will keep up with his high maintenance duties very well. Even if it does mean getting squished by a 25lb cat!
