  • Rick and Morty creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have been tiding us over with little bits and pieces of content while we wait anxiously for season three. If you’re a die-hard fan of the show or reader of this site, you might remember the improvised minisode they did for New York Magazine. The content that has gotten the most attention, though, is easily this:

  • That’s an animatic, or “edited together but not actually animated storyboards” for the laypeople, that uses as its script the transcript of a real live court case: The State of Georgia vs. Denver Fenton Allen. In the animatic, the judge’s words are performed by Morty’s voice actor (Justin Roiland), and the defendant’s words are performed by Rick’s voice actor (also Justin Roiland).

Adult Swim uploaded it to their official YouTube channel after a secretly-recorded fan version got a lot of attention online. That fan recording remains online, which bodes well for this incredible video by popular YouTube animator tiarawhy:

  • That’s right. There’s now a fully-animated version of what was arguably already one of the funniest videos of 2016. Even if you’ve already seen the original video, this thing is golden — there’s lots of fun little sight gags, it accurately represents the look and feel of the show, AND there’s original content after the credits.

The legal status here is a little gray, so watch it while you can. Tiarawhy even lists Adult Swim as “Notbreaking Myarms” in the credits. Now that’s what I call comedy.

What do you think? Is this the best fan animation you’ve ever seen, or did you like last week’s Indiana Jones video better? Let us know in the comments below or @WhatsTrending on Twitter!
