The world has been entranced by the mobile app since its release and now someone has erected a giant statue of Pikachu in a park in New Orleans. The statue reportedly appeared over the course of a weekend, and was placed in the center of a broken fountain in a park located in the upscale Lower Garden District.

The bronze statue stands on a cement base with the inscription #POKEMONUMENT written in the cement. It also looks like its been aged as well, to appear as if it had always been in the park. Since it’s appearance, fans have been flocking to the park to have their photo taken with the iconic Pokemon.

Attempts to identify the artist have proven to be fruitless, although a mysterious man did make a brief appearance claiming to have been involved with the installation. When asked if Banksy may have been behind the stunt, the man neither confirmed nor denied the possibility.

New Orleans Police have received no complaints about the piece, and don’t plan on doing anything about it. So, for now the statue gets to stay.
