A few of Auckland University’s law students got together to create this gender-swapped parody of “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke, which is causing controversy across the Internet. As a response to Thicke’s song, which has been criticized for being “rapey,” and his music video, which features scantily clad women (actually, topless women in the original version), this parody flips the tables and objectifies men, with the women holding the reigns.
After it was uploaded on Friday, August 30, the video racked up more than 300,000 views until it was removed for a few hours over the weekend. Then, after backlash from the Internet, YouTube re-uploaded the video, reigniting the conversation around its taboo content.
