This last week has sparked what appears to be another wave of the Me, Too movement, as male celebrities all over the internet are being called out. Influencer Jovan Hill has responded to accusations, while Justin Bieber and Ansel Elgort are also amid sexual assault controversy.

Influencer Jovan Hill is the latest amid a slew of sexual assault allegations to be called out this week online. Hill claims he was “too intoxicated to remember it” but there are still multiple accusations against him. In what appears to be another wave of the Me, Too movement, male celebrities have been called out for actions against them, creating a rather long list of people facing controversy.

In this instance, Jovan Hill, an openly gay YouTuber and Twich Streamer, was the center of a string of tweets describing an interaction between him and Twitter user @WhiteyPPG.

Hill took to his instagram account to post a statement. Jovan admits to having a sexual encounter with his accuser, but says they were both drunk when this incident happened. He posted, “This is a blurry situation for me because of how drunk I was and without a side of the story to tell I don’t have a lot to say. But being drunk doesn’t make me innocent.” and “none of this is an excuse and I understand if people are uncomfortable following or supporting me and I’d like to apologize to riley [@WhitneyPPG] for putting him in that situation”.

Jovan says any harm caused by that night was unintentional, as he thought the experience was drunk but consensual. He claims to have no idea they ended on bad terms, however he still apologies to Riley for being hurt by the situation.

Another user came forward to accuse Jovan of sexual assault as well, saying their story sounded very similar to Riley’s.

Adding to the list of accused stars is Justin Bieber. He has faced two claims of sexual assault in the past week, one of which he shut down immediately with receipts to back up his case.

The woman in question, Danielle, claimed that she was sexually assaulted by Bieber on March 9, 2014, after she went to his room at the Four Seasons Hotel after his surprise performance at the SXSW festival.

Bieber responded to the allegations on Twitter saying “I don’t normally address things as I have dealt with random accusations my entire career but after talking with my wife and team I have decided to speak up on an issue tonight.”

Bieber posted a series of article headlines, tweets and hotel bills from that weekend in 2014 to prove that he was never at the hotel Danielle mentioned. His tweets immediately shut down the story and backed up his case.

But, Justin is yet to comment on this second allegation, which is a response from a woman named Kadi who said, “I believe Danielle, I am a victim of sexual assault by Justin Bieber too.”

There is also the recent case involving Ansel Elgort, who like Jovan Hill, is admitting to a sexual relationship with the accuser, but no form of sexual assault.

The actor denied accusations that he sexually assaulted a 17 year old girl when he was 20, back in 2014. The woman, a woman named Gabby, has deleted her Twitter account amid backlash from her original post but she says that the pair began messaging over social media before having a non-consensual sexual relationship, and that he was aware of her age the entire time.

Elgort responded to the allegations in an Instagram post, saying, “I cannot claim to understand Gabby’s feelings but her description of events is simply not what happened. I have never and would never assault anyone.” and then went on to say, “Gabby and I had a brief, legal and entirely consensual relationship. Unfortunately I did not handle the breakup well. I stopped responding to her, which is an immature and cruel thing to do to someone.” He seems to imply the allegations are false and are an act of revenge for their split.

These three cases unfortunately have joined a long list of allegations coming forward from the internet recently. Amid Black Lives Matter and this new wave of the Me, Too movement, the internet keeps giving us something to learn from.
