The only thing cooler than owning a Motorola Razr in 2005, was imagining yourself in the ‘It’ crowd as a PCA Stingray. Unfortunately, our Zoey 101 dreams were cut short in 2007 and the world of childhood viewers blamed Jamie Lynn Spears for getting pregnant.
Celebrating fourteen years since the original premiere date on Nickelodeon, Spears who starred as Zoey Brooks announced to her fans that the show did not actually end due to her pregnancy. In an Instagram, Spears posted a video of the classic “Are you ready?” intro to Zoey 101.
“Are you ready? 14 years later… still a jam…,” she captioned the video. She continued with the hashtags “#itdidNOTendbecauseofpregnancy #contractwasfinished.” Thank you, Jamie, for setting the record straight once and for all!
Spears continued the celebration on Instagram Stories.
“Seriously tho, so thankful for this show and everyone who loved and supported it,” she said in a series of posts. “I grew up on this show, so it was pretty much my childhood also. Love y’all.”
The show first aired on Nickelodeon in January 2005. After four seasons, the show came to a surprise ending in May 2008. It was in December of 2007 that Spears announced her pregnancy at the age of 16 to her boyfriend Casey Aldridge at the time.
After the shocking ending of Chase telling Zoey he loved her over TEKMATE, and of course the birth of her daughter, Maddie, Spears stepped out of the spotlight for several years before re-emerging as a country singer.
Now, 14 years later, her first-born daughter is 10-years-old. Spears, 27, is married to Jamie Watson, 35, and gave birth to another daughter in April 2018.
