Jeffree Starr has been a controversial subject for over a decade, but after a revealing documentary by Shane Dawson, fans finally clued in to the businessman Jeffree really is. The YouTuber and Makeup King has never been shy about enjoying some broccoli and now that the laws are changing across America, Jeffree wants in on the business.

He tweeted: As soon as the laws officially change, I’ll be building my own empire in Grand Rapids and beyond… amazing news.

Back in October, Jeffree celebrated Canada’s legalization news by selling grinders, complete with the signature Jeffree branded star.

And while Canada is the first major economy to make it legal, the industry in the US has been booming for a while. There was around $9 billion in sales in 2017 and that was before California opened its massive retail market in January. By 2021, that amount is expected to hit $24 billion.

Time will only tell if these stats can hold up on a national level, but Jeffree star is ready for it to flip, and with a cult-like following of over 11 million subscribers and a thriving makeup company. Jeffree might be looking at a serious cash cow.

But he’s not the only one to get into the industry. Famous celebrities like Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Tommy Chong and Whoopi Goldberg have all branded their names in the business.

And it’s only a matter of time before other enthusiasts do as well.
