This Valentines Day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they are expecting their second baby. The world’s favorite royal couple shared their news through a spokesperson on Sunday stating they are ecstatic. “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.” This happy news comes after Markle opened up during a New York Times opinion piece late November about a miscarriage.

“Sitting in a hospital bed, watching my husband’s heart break as he tried to hold the shattered pieces of mine, I realized that the only way to begin to heal is to first ask, “Are you OK? Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few.”

During the heart-warming, sentimental op-ed, Markle mentioned that opening up and sharing grief and pain acts as the first step towards healing. When people exchange emotional experiences, automatically the feeling of empathy arises. Especially during the hard times we are currently going through, caring and asking how someone is initiates a bigger conversation.

Good News

Things were quick to turn to a brighter direction for the couple following their Valentines Day announcement. The pregnancy news came through a staggering black and white photo of the two locking eyes, whilst Meghan rests her head on her husband’s lap. The intimate image The photo was taken by their friend and longtime photographer, Misan Harriman. Twitter was quick to react to the news spreading joy and congratulations to the couple.

A Tribute

Royals reporter Omid Scobie wrote on Twitter the significance of this day, as exactly 37 years ago Princess Diana announced she was pregnant with Harry. Prince Harry holds his mother’s memory close to his heart as in every important event of his life he never fails to mention her legacy and contributions. On a day defined by love, Harry chose to share the news in the same way his mother did, honoring her, and simultaneously marking her significant presence in his life.

Oprah Winfrey Interview

Following the pregnancy news, CBS announced that Oprah Winfrey will be sitting down with the couple on a one-on-one basis for broad interview. “Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special” will air on CBS on March 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The interview will cover a variety of topics including the couple’s big step of moving to the United States and turning around their ‘royal’ lives into a more ‘normal-looking’ routine. The two women will kick in the conversation talking marriage, pregnancy, philanthropy, and life under the public eye. Markle is used to being under the spotlight, but her royal life has introduced a new spectrum of popularity. Prince Harry will later join touching upon their big decision to ‘exit’ the royal lifestyle, seeking to build a new chapter under different conditions.

Next In Line To The Throne

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s second child will be eighth in line to the throne, right behind big brother Archie. Even though Meghan and Harry shook the royal tradition by stepping down their roles, the line of succession remains stable for their children. Currently, Prince Charles who is the eldest of Queen Elizabeth’s children is first in line followed by his son Prince William and his three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis.
