In the latest of a series of powerful men brought down by their behavior from an era before the #MeToo/#TimesUp Movement, Morgan Freeman is the latest powerful man whose past sexual misconduct has recently been brought to light. Eight women have come forward to talk about the actor’s history of either unwanted touching, inappropriate comments, and general discomfort — and are corroborated by eight witnesses.

One story comes from a CNN anchor Chloe Melas who interviewed Morgan Freeman for his film “Going in Style” while six months pregnant. Reportedly, Morgan Freeman looked her up and down and said: “I wish I was there. You are ripe.” A representative at Warner Bros. has corroborated the story.

The actor’s sexual misconduct was also at play when he was attempting to lift a production assistant’s skirt on the set of the film. Said the PA: “[Morgan Freeman] kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear… [Eventually] Alan [Arkin] made a comment telling him to stop. Morgan got freaked out and didn’t know what to say.”

Another woman, a senior member of the production staff on the magician heist film “Now You See Me” spoke of his behavior on the movie, saying: “He did comment on our bodies… We knew that if he was coming by … not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms, meaning not wearing clothes that [were] fitted,” she said.

The harassment was also at play at his company, “Revelations Entertainment”, which included a regular stream of sexual harassment. One employee describes on her first day Morgan Freeman walking up to her, flanked by men, looking her up and down and asking her how she feels about sexual harassment. The employee told CNN: “I was stunned. This is the person that I worked for, this is his company, I didn’t expect it at all … I said timidly, ‘I love it’ in a sarcastic way hoping to make light of the situation because I was so confused and then he turned to the guys on the crew … and said, ‘See guys, this is how you do it.'” Additional stories include Morgan Freeman coming up to women and staring them up and down in a row, and making women spin around in front of him and their male peers.

Morgan Freeman released a statement saying —

“Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent.”

Meanwhile, the fallout of the much corroborated accusations is beginning to pile up, with the Canadian public transit system, SkyTrain, dropping Morgan Freeman as its official voice.
