  • It’s been a long, long wait for new music by Kesha, but it’s finally here!

After performing “True Colors” with Zedd during a surprise appearance at Coachella, Kesha has been teasing the production and release of a full version of the song. And today, it finally happened. While the song is a notable detour from her usual sound (which makes sense, since it’s Zedd’s song), it still marks what will hopefully be a big milestone for the singer after being stuck in limbo for the past couple years due to her very public lawsuit against producer Dr. Luke. Despite the court ultimately throwing out her case, Kesha received an outpouring of support from both fans and fellow artists alike, including Zedd, who made an offer on Twitter to produce new music for her. While Kesha is still largely stuck to recording with Sony artists (which Zedd is not, but they received special permission for recording this song), and has expressed concern that Sony will not promote any music she does without Dr. Luke so as to maintain their relationship with him, if the reaction to her Coachella appearance and the release of “True Colors” is any indication, Kesha still has a strong fanbase that will support her regardless of the label’s publicity efforts.

We’ll all have to wait and see how the remainder of Kesha’s career trajectory plays out, but in the meantime, you can listen to the full version of “True Colors” below, and if you do want to show your support, don’t forget to buy a copy, too.
