  • In a nail-biter of a match that needed penalty kicks to declare a winner, Argentina defeated the Netherlands to advance to the World Cup final on Saturday where they will take on Germany.

The customary celebrations would ensue for the Argentina squad…everyone except for Lionel Messi that is.

Before he could make his way to the locker room with his teammates following the end of the match, in Tim Howard fashion, the 27 year-old was summoned to the doping control room for a random drug test.

Messi shared the news via his Instagram account. He posted a photo of himself sitting and waiting patiently in the testing room with a caption reading:

“I’ve been called for doping control and I can’t be enjoying the moment in the dressing room.

“I feel proud to be part of this team! Phenomenons every one of them! What a game they had. This is crazy. We’re in the final! Let’s enjoy this, a hug to all of Argentina, we have just one step left.”

  • While he may be disappointed not to be able to celebrate the big win right away, he’ll have the opportunity to celebrate an even greater feat on Saturday with a win over Germany, lifting the World Cup Trophy. Hopefully he wont have to spend that celebration in doping control!
