All my bags are packed… I’m ready to go… wait, hold up. Did that plane just take off without me on it?
Ask any seasoned traveller and they’ll tell you about the dreaded experience of missing a flight. It happens to the best of us. Also, there really are just a plethora of excuses for it, no? Minds on vacation-mode, traffic on the way over to the airport, TSA lines, gate changes and ah… the best of the best: you were too busy on your phone.
Well, fear not! The time has come where you might never have to suffer the consequences for that last one ever again.
“EasyJet is the third airline to test and experiment with the iBeacon ‘passenger locating’ technology,” Future Travel Experience reported. The other two are Virgin and American Airlines.
The iBeacon technology has the ability to determine where passengers are in their travels and directs them to take action via their cell phone, according to the Huffington Post.
The airline is trialling the new technology across Luton, Gatwick and Paris Charles de Gaulle airports, the Daily Mail reported.
That’s right, you’ll now have instructions sent to you — gate changes included.
“It’s pretty much like your airline is sending you text messages so you never have to look up from your screen,” the Huffington Post wrote. So go right on ahead. Fly with one of the three airlines and gain the perks of being able to send out those texts and tweets. Other perks include: being able to spend as much time as you like finding that perfect filter on Instagram.
Heck, why not also check in on Four Square to make everyone in your life jealous?
