When Russia’s machine building company, Uralvagonzavod (UVZ), unveiled Russia One (or R1) at this year’s Innoprom—the large scale, annually held, international industrial exhibition—there was no questioning that the tram that stood before its spectators was the single most advanced will-be public tram the world has ever seen.

The R1 not only integrates with any landscape, but also incorporates the use of sliding glass doors that operate by touchscreen, according to The Moscow Times. In addition, its forward-slanted windshields will provide drivers with a 30 percent wider view of what’s happening below.

As reported, mass production of the tram is said to begin in 2015 and will then “populate” the cities of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Volgograd.
