Today’s Featured Instagrammer: Chris Ozer, Who Believes In Doing The Unexpected
It took him a while to become the brilliant photographer he is now, but Chris Ozer also wouldn’t be where he is without his past background. “I realize that a big reason I am where I am today is because of how music, branding, and marketing all coalesced. I don’t think I would have ended up here if I had started earlier,” he said in an interview with The Great Discontent.
From jazz musician to a marketing job at NYU where he learned about branding, writing copy and design photography, Chris seems to have dabbled in just about everything in the creative field. A field he knew he wanted to be a part of from a young age.
Chris’s photography centers around street photography and urban landscape, especially that of New York City’s. While his style once mainly leaned towards muted colors and darker tones, he seems to have also thrown in lighter and more airy photographs to his repertoire.
What hasn’t changed is Chris’s ability to pull you into his photographs. You suddenly find yourself wanting to be wherever he was at the time of the snap. The shadow play in his photographs is downright startling, the lighting ethereal.
He’s sure to leave you questioning whether you’ve been appreciating the beauty that surrounds you every day and whether you’ve actually been looking as opposed to just seeing.
Chris proves that even the seemingly mundane can be so utterly beautiful.
And we really respect him for it.
Today, Chris lives in Brooklyn, N.Y. with his wife, Erin Ozer of Knot and Bow and his two boys. He continues to think about photography all day long.
