Patti LuPone Steals Phone of Uncultured Swine During Play
Patti LuPone swears to god, if you don’t stop texting during her play you will lose your goddamn phone.
The legendary actress has delighted the internet by walking into the audience and snatching someone’s phone because the person wouldn’t stop texting during a performance of LuPone’s play “Shows for Days” at Lincoln Center yesterday.
This was after the matinee performance earlier that day when at least three cell phones went off, one of them twice.
She later issued this statement to Playbill:
“We work hard on stage to create a world that is being totally destroyed by a few, rude, self-absorbed and inconsiderate audience members who are controlled by their phones. They cannot put them down. When a phone goes off or when a LED screen can be seen in the dark it ruins the experience for everyone else – the majority of the audience at that performance and the actors on stage. I am so defeated by this issue that I seriously question whether I want to work on stage anymore. Now I’m putting battle gear on over my costume to marshall the audience as well as perform.”
God, I know, right? Internet-obsessed people who stare at their phones all day are just the worst.
