The Internet’s Fighting About Columbus Day Again

It’s the national holiday that will get you really really mad no matter who you are – at least if you have a Twitter account, anyway. There’s really no middle ground in this annual flame war: either you’re horrified at historical accounts of Columbus enslaving and wiping out Native American peoples and want America to get rid of the holiday entirely….

… or you think the native peoples of Central America were savage cannibals who were killing each other anyway (?!) and the fact that Columbus crossed the ocean in a wooden boat makes him ballsy and adventurous enough to be above criticism by Millennials sitting in front of computers.

I fall into the “Columbus was a dick” category, so, y’know, come at me. Still kind of wish there was a good excuse to get the day off work, though.
