Toby Turner Accused of Sexual Assault
The singer and YouTuber known as April Ferocious wrote on Tumblr accusing her ex, Toby Turner, of sexual assault, emotional abuse, and rape. Content warning: The piece details a timeline of abuse stretching from 2011 to 2014, beginning with the pair’s meeting at E3 and extending through Toby’s very public relationship with YouTuber Olga Kay.
Since the allegations surfaced, many fellow YouTubers, gamers, and public figures in the community have come out to voice their support and share their own stories on social media.
There is still no indication whether Turner will be allowed to attend this year’s VidCon. The YouTuber also has yet to publicly address the allegations. But the Unsubscribe Together web app has already added Tobuscus to the list of alleged abusers who users can unsubscribe from in one fell swoop. The list includes Sam Pepper, Alex Day, and Tom Milsom.
Editor’s note: While people have come out to support April, there is currently no confirmation whether or not the allegations are true.
Toby’s mom has also come out in defense of her son on social media.
Update: On April 9th, Turner’s former girlfriend Jaclyn Glenn uploaded a video to YouTube detailing her relationship with Tobuscus and commenting on April’s allegations.
Update: Toby Turner released a short response video on Monday, April 11, calling the allegations “absolutely false.”
“I want to be crystal clear: I have never done anything without her consent, I’ve never tried to trick her into anything. I read her Tumblr post and I was shocked and I was hurt.”
