Ronald McDonald Goes Into Hiding Due to Creepy Clown Bullsh*t
TBH he can stay on vacation.
Ronald McDonald’s public appearances are now limited.
Due to a series of creepy clown sightings all over the country, McDonald’s corporate has decided that it is in their best interest to limit mascot Ronald McDonald’s public appearances. Apparently, clowns aren’t doing too well with the kids lately.
According to the Los Angeles Times:
“The burger chain said Tuesday that it is being ‘thoughtful in respect to Ronald McDonald’s participation in community events’ as a result of the ‘current climate around clown sightings in communities.'”
Twitter thinks it’s funny, but also kind of seems to feel like “oh wow, this creepy clown thing might be getting out of hand.”
What a time to be alive.
The fast food giant’s decision comes after a series of pranks and threats nationwide and abroad that have involved clowns creeping around.
The trend began this summer with unconfirmed reports in South Carolina. Since then, reports have involved idiots dressed up as clowns frightening people on the street and/or terrorizing others via social media. The eerie sightings have continued in Michigan, California, and also in England. Sigh.
