Chuck E. Cheese Animatronic Band is ENDING

Friends, music break ups can often hit us hard. We all know the heartbreak fans still feel over the end of the Beatles, The Smiths, Sleater Kinney, and so many more. And now another legendary rock band is meeting its end — The Pizza Time Players, better known as the Chuck E. Cheese animatronic band.

Yes my friends, Chuck E. Cheese, Jasper T. Jowls, Pasqualy the Pizza Chef, Mr. Munch and Helen Henny’s music careers are being phased out! Begone with! And who is the Yoko Ono of the animatronic pizza set (I know, I know, Yoko didn’t really break up the Beatles — anyway!—), why it’s— corporate action in the face of core audience disinterest! What?? It’s true! As Chuck E. Cheese CEO Tom Leverton explained to CBS — “The kids stopped looking at the animatronics years and years ago… The animatronics became a side show.” A side show! Sir, as an adult man with no kids who has not visited a Chuck E. Cheese in eons but who has fond memories of his own childhood, I take great offense to that! Or probably not. The animatrons are being replaced with a dance floor kids can dance with the gigantic character puppets. Sad to see great rock stars sell out, but in this economy? I get it. But we’ll always remember… the music.
