A Fire Blazes While A Man Awaits Rescue

This large apartment building caught on fire Tuesday while construction workers were inside. High winds caused the fire to spread rapidly and over 200 fire fighters responded. Although everyone made it out safely, one worker–as shown in this video– had a very close encounter. As the flames licked up the walls of the fourth flour, the worker clung to the outside balcony. While waiting for a ladder to come to his rescue, the walls behind him began collapsing. He is shown dropping down as if to prepare to jump, when he is finally saved by the ladder. The footage is an extraordinary example of the natural will to survive.
