Following the stories of inhumane rights abuses done by ICE, and as those cruelties expanded under the Donald Trump administration, Americans all over the country have tried to find what they could do to stave off the injustices done by it. People in Los Angeles took to the streets to protest the presence of ICE at the Immigration March this Saturday. Speakers at the event included Chrissy Teigen, who brought her baby son to show the importance of family, the beloved Maxine Waters who responded to those who claimed she is wrong to encourage people to protest directly in front of those who enable ICE at restaurants, and Mayor Eric Garcetti who got booed, which is extremely funny.

Chrissy Teigen came up, holding her son, and discussing her own roots when it comes to immigration, given that her mother emigrated from Thailand, saying “I’m incredibly proud to be the daughter of an immigrant. My mother grew up in a very small village in Thailand and she never lets me forget it….America at its best is big, beautiful and diverse, like our great city of Los Angeles.” John Legend then came to the stage to perform his new song “Preach”

Also, Chrissy Teigen had a dope Donald Trump impression, so that was great.

Maxine Waters’ speech was beautiful, fiery, meaningful and passionate, the kind of passion we rarely see from American politicans. It was the kind of fiery angry, clear and brilliant speech that discussed the history of family separation in America in slavery, and how Americans stopped this heinous practice and that they are “going to win again”. Maxine Waters told Trump, “You will not intimidate us” and, in her most quoted line from the speech, regarding her bad faith GOP critics and spineless critics in congress who want to silence her, saying “If you shoot me, you better shoot straight, because there is nothing more dangerous than wounded animal.”

Also Eric Garcetti, the mayor of Los Angeles who worked with ICE, talked about getting ICE to do its job, and allows the arrest of homeless people got booed, so that’s fun.
