A lot of people have the dream of going on to a big daytime talk-show, especially one like Ellen DeGeneres, but big YouTuber NikkieTutorials said she had a less-than-kind experience with Ellen when she was on the show about her coming-out.

In January, de Jager was invited on the show after her YouTube video about coming out as transgender went viral. The video which has more than 35 million views reveals that she was blackmailed by someone who threatened to publicly out her. However, after going onto Ellen’s show, de Jager told DeGeneres then that she was ultimately grateful to have come out because it was so warmly and widely received by her fans.

She also thanked Ellen immensely for giving her an additional platform to talk about being trans and to help young people everywhere. Nikkie even tweeted about how excited she was to be going on the show as well. However, an interview in the Netherlands has been making its rounds on the internet about her experience on the Ellen Show.

Nikkie appeared on a talk show last month in the Netherlands called De Wereld Draait Door (The World Goes On) and revealed some behind-the-scenes information about her experience with Ellen DeGeneres. Her Dutch interview happened weeks ago, but it has now made its way to Reddit threads and YouTube controversy/discussion pages.

The ~tea~ is now being heavily discussed in English-speaking online forums and channels. The Dutch vlogger, seemed to hint to host Matthijs van Nieuwkerk that DeGeneres was not as nice as she hoped she would be. When van Nieuwkerk asked what it was like for her on the show, de Jager hesitantly said, “It’s really nice that you came over and said hello to me… She didn’t.”

It’s only fueled chatter about the beloved American TV host. Tabloids have reported that her smiley persona onscreen is not one she maintains off the air. There are also reports that she mistreats her staff members and overall only turns on the charm for the cameras.

The rumors started back in 2007 when a former writer from The Ellen Show revealed that the 59-year-old treated her writing staff like, well, “s–t.” “We’d watch her in rehearsals, smiling and winning us over with her charm and comic timing,” the anonymous writer revealed. “Then the director would yell cut, her face would fall, and she’d level a glare at the writers. ‘Why do you keep writing these unfunny jokes?’ she’d hiss.” Fans were shocked by the allegations, but the rumors never tarnished her reputation. After all, she had a successful talk show, a regular gig hosting awards show like the Emmys, and was too funny and well-liked for fans to write her off because of one anonymous account.

Many celebrities that have had problems with Ellen include Kathy Griffin being kicked out of a backstage dressing room at the Emmy’s because of Ellen and later banned on her show. In 2016, Kathy Griffin published her scandalous book, Kathy Griffin’s ‘Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Indes’, in which she slammed 125 stars. As you might’ve guessed, Ellen DeGeneres made the list, although she didn’t use her name.  A short list of other stars include Katy Perry having some uncomfortable interview moments with the host, Drew Barrymore and Ellen having major backstage arguments on a show that didn’t get picked up for second season, and notoriously Wendy Williams and Ellen having feuds on and off screen. She even compared Ellen to the lookalikes of Justin Bieber.
